This is an honest place to start. Relax. It's a long ride. Life takes us through so many challenges leaving us feeling like we have made great strides. Then, as life would have it, it throws something at us that makes us feel like the blind fool again. Life is a thing of circles. Ups and downs. In life, we are just trying to create and walk in better circles. A good community is such a thing. A somewhat predictable place where we can nourish and support circles that are worth walking in.

THE G WORD. It is important to create a relationship to the notion of God in our practice. Part of this is having the courage to define that relationship through our own wisdom. So many people are vying to draw us into what God means to them and perhaps we resonate in the same way. But any notion of God can draw us into a life of wisdom and compassion, or fear and selfishness disguised as faith. So what/who is God to us, if we should embrace such a notion?
WHAT NEXT? We can't be unselfish people until we have spent the time to wrap our heads around our self. Being selfish is not necessarily an ill advised practice, as long as it in its place and time. Selfishness is means to explore and understand our selves, but it cannot be an end game. It is only when we seek to park our selves in a selfish parking space that life begins to collapse around us. So, let's get a little selfish?
The notion of community is relative to the person. How far do we reach into our community? Maybe not far beyond our neighborhood. Community is simply our first step out of our own world of self. It is our practice not only of how we give an interact, but how we wisely look after and protect our selves. It is also a study of place. What the nature is of the place we call home. How is it wired and what can it teach us about life?
The notion of the world expands our sense of community. While this may be true, we can;t honestly stay connected to everything everwhere. Nor can we honestly change or affect things in other places without some sort of serious commitment and understanding of a given place and challenge. It is a far more accurate story that the events of the world cascade down and touch in ways subtle and not so subtle. I think it is a luxury to be able to think on a world scale. Most people don't have the time, energy, or ability to do much more than think about getting food on the table. We just need to be cautious that our psychological relationship with the world at large is nourishing the best of us.
